Registered Clinical Psychologist

Welcome

I am a Registered Clinical Psychologist in private practice.

My practice is limited to clinical supervision and ACC ISSC Sensitive Claims Supported Assessments and other ACC assessments (Work Related Mental Injury, Mental Injury Caused by Physical Injury).

Please note: I no longer accept referrals for individual therapy.

Clinical Supervision

I provide ongoing supervision (in-person or online) for a range of professionals, including psychologists, psychotherapists, counsellors, and social workers. The focus of supervision will depend on professional goals and therapeutic orientation. My fee is $175 per hour (incl. GST) unless otherwise negotiated. I offer reduced fees for students, trainees or interns.

Case Consultation

I also provide one-off or time-limited consultation for cases that are complex, challenging, or may benefit from an alternative point of view.

About Me

I am a Registered Clinical Psychologist (90-1385) and Member of the New Zealand Psychological Society. From 1996–2009 I was a Member of the New Zealand Association of Psychotherapists.

I have practiced as a psychotherapist and psychologist for over 35 years. After a BSc in Zoology I worked with high-needs children and adolescents in intensive residential psychiatric treatment for six years followed by postgraduate training at the University of Toronto. I have lived in Tauranga since 1994. I was a Senior Clinical Psychologist at Tauranga Hospital (Child and Adolescent, and Adult, Mental Health Services) from 1994-1999. Since 1999 I have been in private practice. I have been ACC-registered for physical and mental injury services since 1996. I continue to undertake further training, continuing competence programs and clinical supervision and I adhere to the NZ Psychological Society Code of Ethics.

Along the way I have trained in psychoanalytic psychotherapy, psychodynamic group therapy, family therapy, cognitive-behavioural  therapy and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing, Level I, 1996 and Level II, 2003 and 2014). I have studied at the C G Jung Institute, Zurich and have a particular interest in Analytical (Jungian) Psychology and working with dreams.

I  have worked for many years with indigenous healers, medicine people, sangomas and elders in Canada, USA, Mexico and South Africa. I have also trained with Stanislav Grof (holotropic breathwork), Michael Harner (soul retrieval), Jon Kabat-Zinn (mindfulness), George Leonard (aikido), Sondra Ray (rebirthing), Gabrielle Roth (five movements), Virginia Satir, Carl Whitaker (family therapy) and Thomas Verny (primal therapy, pre- and perinatal psychology).
